Scrapbooking-A Great Way to Preserve Those Baby Memories

Scrapbooking can be a creative was of preserving special memories, and there is no memory more special than the birth of a child. Many expectant mothers start their scrapbook with the day they find out they are pregnant, making pages that document each prenatal visit, ultrasound, and test leading up to delivery. Baby shower invitations, photos, and cards also are a great addition to your baby scrapbook. There are so many great things that you can fill your baby scrapbook with, you may find it difficult to decide what to include, and what to leave out.

Many expectant mothers are restricted to at home bed rest early in their pregnancies, and scrapbooking is something that they can easily do in bed, with their doctor's okay, to help pass the time. It can be a lot of fun to create this special memory book, and even though expectant mothers can't really fill their scrapbook with baby photos just yet, they can create pretty pages, just ready for those new photos when the time is right!

Many parents choose to wait and start their baby scrapbook after the birth, which is also great, because you can a terrific decorative cover using a family photo, and filling in the new baby's name, date and time of birth, weight, and height, among other details. Odds are, especially if this is your first baby, you will find that you have a ton of photos after only a few weeks, and it may be difficult to sort out your favorites for adding to the scrapbook. The main thing is that you use your baby scrapbook to preserve your favorite memories of your new bundle of joy, so you design your scrapbook in whatever manner most pleases you!

Some scrapbooking experts suggest that you pick a general color theme for each book, for example, if you have a girl, you might do an entire scrapbook based on pink and pastel purple. The thing about it is, this type of scrapbooking really doesn't give you a lot of creative options, but again, the choice is yours to make.

When it comes to creating your baby scrapbook, as with any scrapbooking project, take your time, have fun, and do whatever makes you happy! Preserve your precious memories in any way you wish, there are endless options to choose from. There are many great scrapbooking websites that may help you with some basic beginning ideas for your baby scrapbook, and your local craft store probably has entire aisles devoted to scrapbooking supplies, or you can even make your own, and learn as you go. Some craft stores actually have scrapbooking classes, where novice scrap-bookers can gather together learning new techniques, trying out new products, and having fun, together! If you can tear yourself away from your new babe, you might enjoy such a get together!
